What It Means to Be Rich in Germany

In our society a lot revolves around striving for prestige and recognition. Some people make a name for themselves by buying expensive villas, expensive clothes or even a flashy sports car that is completely impractical, but has a sleek design. Below we'll look at what it means in the society of the Federal Republic of Germany when someone is rich. What advantages it brings, but also what disadvantages may arise from being rich in Germany, is addressed below.
What society associates with wealth in Germany
In Germany, social disparities are growing. That means the gap between rich and poor keeps getting wider. The middle class, which actually makes up society and represents its stable center, is slowly but surely in danger of disappearing. That's because many people from the middle class are at risk of being considered at risk of poverty. And in Germany that is the case if you earn 60% or less of the average gross income of a full-time employee. Being rich in Germany is viewed critically by society, but also idealized as a wish, in music, especially in rap. On the one hand wealth is equated with someone simply having been born rich, but on the other hand people who have worked hard for their wealth and built, for example, a successful company (e.g. the German entrepreneur Ralf Dümmel, who comes from a working-class background and built a multimillion-euro company with DS Produkte) receive great recognition. In Germany the view "nothing comes from nothing" prevails. As for being rich in Germany, it can be added that working hard for your success is considered absolutely necessary.

How does wealth show in the countryside and in the city?
People who have wealth and still have their center of life in Germany, and haven't moved to Spain, the USA or even Monaco, are nevertheless sometimes very different in how they handle their wealth or how they show it. Being rich in Germany and living in Germany's big cities of course means frequenting expensive restaurants and hotels. But it can also simply be that, as a rich person, you have a box at the stadium of your favorite soccer club. As for housing, rich people in the city mostly live in modern lofts that are relatively large. Normally living space is scarce in the city, but the rich don't suffer much from it. People who are rich and live in the countryside, on the other hand, often have large gardens, sprawling villas and sometimes beautiful manor houses. Being rich in Germany also shows when, for example, wealthy people support their local soccer club through sponsorship.
How do rich people in Germany vacation?
When someone is rich and vacations in Germany, that person mostly stays in fine hotels. There are also people who rent an entire resort complex when the family comes along and the wealth allows it. Even if not everyone wants to, the rich still set themselves apart from the rest of society, who find it perfectly fine to sleep in hostels, through the way they vacation. Many rich people also own yachts or expensive cars. Some even have their own private plane or charter a private jet to fly to Sylt. Wealth is lived out on vacation in the fine hotels, which offer a fine wine and sometimes caviar too. Not everyone shows off their wealth openly, some prefer more comfort, peace and seclusion and don't want to be perceived as a rich person at all.
