My name is Vivian and I'm 28 years young. My life hasn't always been easy so far. At 18 I moved out of my parents' home to get to know the big wide world. Marrying a millionaire hadn't crossed my mind, let alone been a dream, at that point. Back then I got a small 2-room apartment and traveled as often as I could. Whether Italy, Dubai or Thailand, I saved up and was always on the move. Independent of my parents, I made my own decisions and stood on my own two feet.

My life changed one evening in Dubai. I entered the Dubai Mall in Downtown Dubai, looking for one particular shop. Then I saw this neat-looking man and spoke to him. Of course, he didn't know his way around. His dark hair and dark complexion made me assume he lived there. But I was wrong. He was a tourist like me.

After a short conversation, he invited me to dinner. From the terrace we could see the water fountains, and it was an indescribably beautiful evening. But he was leaving the next day. We exchanged numbers, and he said he'd get in touch once I was back home.

Let red roses rain down for me

It's unbelievable what happened! My grandma loved the song by the German singer Hildegard Knef: "Für mich soll's rote Rosen regnen" (red roses should rain down for me). That's how I felt. When I unlocked my door at home, a neighbor was already coming over with red roses. They had been dropped off a few hours earlier. A small card: "Welcome! I'd like to see you this weekend! Love, Brian".

Brian is British and lives and works in New York. His parents are filthy rich. He told me about his large family of Indian descent. They're Western-oriented, though, or rather he and his siblings are. While unpacking my suitcase, I started dreaming of being allowed to marry Brian, a millionaire. It would be like in the movies: "Vivian Gets to Marry a Millionaire".

Marry a millionaire

In my mind I was already going through everything

  • Make the guest list
  • Pick a wedding planner
  • Choose the venue

Then my phone rang!

I'm inviting you to Zurich

My next weekend started off hectic. Brian invited me to Zurich. His brother lives there. It was incredibly beautiful, and Brian was very determined. He fell in love with me at first sight. Nothing like that had ever happened to him in his life.

He wants to spend a lot of time with me. From then on, when I went to bed at night, I dreamed of being allowed to marry Brian, a millionaire. It's all like a dream, and day by day we grow closer. I've gotten to know his home and his workplace. Now it's the turn of his parents and mine. Slowly I'm starting to believe it: I'm going to marry a millionaire.
