I already had a bad feeling. But somehow the day had come. The mailbox was finally due to be emptied after almost a week. And there it was: the letter from the bank. "Dear Ms. Miller, we would like to inform you that your overdraft is exceeded by $1,233.73. Please contact your advisor, Mr. Wendell, immediately."

Oh, great! What am I supposed to do now? I have no money left. Just broke! I'm 20 years old and work as a bakery clerk and on the side at the front desk of a gym. It's just not enough. Chicago is far too expensive. I've already toyed with the idea of moving to Milwaukee to be near my sister. On the other hand, I love this city.

The bank meeting went as expected. He still gives me three more months to bring my overdraft back down. So now the clock is ticking. I should just find a millionaire. Find a millionaire who would simply:

  • cover my overdraft
  • free me from all my worries
  • buy me nice clothes

There's an endless list of things I wish for. But where am I supposed to find a millionaire?

Find a millionaire, and all sorts of silly ideas

I need a really good idea to solve my problems. I've already thought about finding a foot slave. Or there are those money slaves. That would be even better. But how does a woman go about something like that? Somehow I dropped that idea again. How about I just borrow from my parents? Also not a good idea, since they're still paying off the house and have to watch their own budget.

Deliver newspapers in the morning as well? I don't think I can handle that anymore with the two jobs. I honestly have no idea what to do. But the best solution would be to find a millionaire.

Find a millionaire

"Ever heard of the internet?"

I told my cousin about my disaster with the bank. All she said was: "Go online and just post a really cheeky ad on a site!" At first I thought she'd really lost it. But somehow, why not, actually. Maybe I'll find someone who'll do it and help me.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. That's my brother's motto, and he's doing pretty well in life. He has a small startup and somehow it's working. So I signed up. I picked out five photos of myself and wrote a funny text. In short, three candidates actually emerged. Michael lent me money. A friendship developed, and I'm thinking about starting a training program with him. He's a well-known hairstylist in Chicago with four salons.
