Millionaire's Wife as a Career

Wealth, spotlight, fame: as a millionaire's wife you supposedly lead a better life than the average woman.
How do you become a millionaire's wife? Does it take a 3-year apprenticeship? And what are the downsides of this "career"?
A millionaire's wife is the wife of a millionaire and is expected to behave accordingly. "Money makes the world go round," as they say, and so it goes for the millionaire. In a way he is powerful: all that money inevitably makes him an influential person, and the same goes for his wife. The career of millionaire's wife therefore comes with a number of obligations.
Obligations of the millionaire's wife career
- her appearance has to meet an upscale dress code
- showing emotions in public is taboo
- she must appreciate and honor her husband, the millionaire, in public
- she must come across as elegant, yet understated
- she should use her power as a millionaire's wife wisely
Sounds like hard work? Absolutely. Of course, the career of millionaire's wife has its perks too. Her every wish is anticipated, and she literally lacks nothing in material terms. Yes, the emphasis is on "material." But when nothing is missing materially, the dissatisfaction grows all the more on the interpersonal level. It stands to reason that a millionaire has plenty of daily appointments to run through: a press conference here, an interview there, a charity gala somewhere else. That leaves little time and energy for keeping the marriage going. Or doesn't it? Little room for the small things that, as we know, matter most for feeling happy. A long hug. A relaxed breakfast for two. A trip to the movies.

Millionaire's wife as a career: a blessing and a curse
You don't have to be rich to find out what money does to a person. All the celebrated musicians, actors and artists who took their own lives, some of them still young, are proof that happiness doesn't lie in wealth. Every intelligent woman who works as a millionaire's wife will agree. Isn't it the case that people in poorer countries are often the happiest? Why is it automatically assumed that a millionaire's wife is happy? After all, the richest people in our society are often the least so. They would just never admit it.
Women in particular are emotional beings who like to be guided by their feelings, which is admirable. It is hard for a woman to suppress her emotions permanently, yet that is exactly what is expected, if not demanded, of a powerful millionaire's wife. Look behind the scenes of such a marriage and you quickly notice contradictions and flaws that don't belong in a relationship built on affection and trust. The career of millionaire's wife is a blessing and a curse at once. On the material level, and on the social one too, it is a blessing. The human striving for recognition is fully satisfied. Admiration and influence are things people instinctively strive for. But people also strive for trust and affection: they want to love and be loved. In the career of millionaire's wife, love and affection have little room. Here money rules, and the more money, the less room for interpersonal needs.
Scratch the surface a little, and the career of millionaire's wife instantly loses its image as a dream job and should by no means be something young women aspire to.
